Prepare one route for the group
Create the route in Route Studio or prepare one from a recorded drive. Check the road, start, finish and café stops, then publish the reviewed version.
For a planned coffee break, make the stop’s purpose clear and choose Stop and regroup where appropriate. Decide which waypoints everyone must visit. Keep road hazards as warnings rather than accidental regrouping stops.
Create the rally under your club
As a club organiser, create an event in the portal and choose the published route version. Set the name, meeting location and departure time. Select your club and Club only when the drive is for its members.
Club members can open a club-only rally in DrivR and choose whether to join. Sharing its link does not grant access to someone who is not allowed to see the event.
Let members know and check who is joining
Share the rally link with your group or use the event’s invitation controls. Notifications depend on each driver’s settings. An invitation is not a confirmation that someone has joined or downloaded the route.
Use the event overview to check participation and route receipts. Ask each driver to open the rally on their phone and review the route before leaving home.
Keep everyone on the agreed version
An event refers to a particular published route version. In Route updates, drivers can review that version and confirm receipt. The organiser can see who has confirmed it.
If you replace the event route with a newer version before departure, members need to review and confirm it again. Participants with route-change notifications enabled can receive a push. Check receipt confirmations before departure; a notification is not confirmation that someone has reviewed the change.
An active drive keeps its current route until the driver chooses to switch. Do not assume changing the event changes a route already being navigated.
Do a short check at the meeting point
While parked, each driver opens the rally and checks the route, GPS and navigation readiness. Confirm the first stop together before setting off.
Drivers who want to appear to the group must enable the rally’s live-location sharing. The rally map shows the event’s sharing participants; it is separate from the nearby-driver view in Free Roam. A missing marker can mean sharing is off or the connection is unavailable.
Use stops and warnings to keep the group informed
Follow the route on your phone and use the agreed regrouping points if the group separates. Each driver should follow road signs and current conditions rather than trying to keep the car ahead in sight.
Participants can report road hazards to the rally. These reports depend on a working connection, and sound depends on notification and navigation settings. Ask a passenger to report, or stop safely. A silent phone does not mean there are no hazards ahead.
Common questions
Does creating a club rally make every member visible?
No. Membership, joining the event and sharing a live location are separate choices. Drivers appear in the rally’s live view when they are participating and sharing a fresh position.
Can I change the route on the morning of the drive?
Before the event starts, an organiser can select a newer published version of the same route. Tell members what changed and ask them to review it again. Route changes close once the event has started or been cancelled.
Does the group need a mobile signal all the way?
Live positions, new warnings and updates need connectivity. Check the app’s offline route availability before departure and agree a meeting point in case the group loses contact. A route receipt alone does not prove an offline download is ready.
